The key is to make it personal to you as we are all different but remember to be persistent if you slack off on doing reality checks you probably won't build the bridge that connects the action to your unconscious mind.

This bridge allows you to remember to do reality checks automatically without even thinking about it. Eventually doing reality checks becomes second nature leading to you performing the same actions in your dreams and poof you are now aware in your dreams you are now having a lucid dream and now the fun begins.

Reality checks serve a crucial purpose in lucid dreaming. It's important to understand that reality checks are not solely focused on perceiving something out of the ordinary. Instead they involve deliberately implanting the idea in your mind to question the reality you are experiencing. This simple act of questioning can increase your awareness allowing you to notice subtle inconsistencies and realize that something is not quite right. Ultimately this realization can lead you to becoming lucid in a dream while there are various approaches to reality checks. The most common one involves intentionally searching for something different in your surroundings as a trigger to trigger lucidity.

REALITY CHECKS

  • Imagine you are hanging out just chilling and you want to figure out if you are dreaming or if you are wide awake in the waking  world. A cool trick you can try is to pinch your nostrils together and here’s how it works when you pinch your noses shut with two fingertips pay attention to how you are breathing if you can’t breathe through your nose at all then guess what? You are definitely awake, you are in the waking world  just like you thought. But if you find that you can still breathe through your pinched nostrils that's a huge sign you are in a dream.

Now before you go ahead and pinch your nose there's something really important you need to do first take a moment to tell yourself “If I can breathe through my nose then I’m in a dream.” You might want to repeat this a few times almost like a little mantra while saying it out loud can be effective. It's often best to say it in your head to avoid any funny looks from others and by saying these words it helps to focus and really understand what you are trying to discover. It's like giving your brain a little nudge waking it up to the idea that you could be dreaming.

When you actually pinch your nostrils remember that your mind is already prepared. If you can breathe it’s your cue that you are in dreamland. This awareness is what we call being "lucid" . It means you are not just a passenger in your dream, you are the driver able to control what happens next.

So the entire process is about connecting your thoughts with your actions. It's not just about pinching your nose, it's about preparing your mind to recognize the signs of dreaming. By doing this you are opening the door to a whole new world where you can explore and create whatever you want. It’s a unique experience that lets you tap into your imagination in ways that are just not possible when you are awake in the waking world.

  • A dream diary is a valuable tool for improving your awareness of dreams and achieving lucidity. One effective way to use your dream diary is use your dream diary for doing reality checks which helps you to know if you are awake or dreaming.

When you write in your dream diary, pay close attention to how the writing looks as you write down your thoughts and experiences. Ask yourself does the writing seem normal and clear or does it appear strange or even distorted? As this is key to building the connection between our waking world life to our dream mind.

To perform a dream diary reality check, look away from your diary for a moment, focus on your surroundings and then look back to see if anything has changed in the writing.

If you notice anything unusual like words looking jumbled, faded or different from what you wrote this could indicate you are dreaming. This technique sharpens your observation skills and encourages you to question your reality making it easier to recognize dream situations when they happen.

By adding this practice to your daily routine you can enhance your awareness of the dream state and explore your subconscious with more clarity and control. Developing this habit of reality checks with your dream diary helps you navigate the line between your waking world life and your dream realm world by improving your experiences in both worlds.

  • You know how sometimes you are just hanging out and start to wonder if you are dreaming? It’s a pretty cool thought especially if you think about how you can actually check if you are in a dream realm world or if you are wide awake in the waking world life. One of the neatest ways to do this is by using gravity. It's super simple and once you get the hang of it, it can become a part of your everyday routine.

So here’s the deal, the idea is to do what I call "gravity checks." These checks help train your mind to recognize when you are dreaming the more you do them in your waking world life the more likely your brain will remember to do them when you are actually dreaming. It’s like setting a little reminder for yourself.

I like to carry a very small tennis ball in my pocket with me and when I'm out and about I say to myself  “I am dreaming or I am dreaming right now” then I throw the ball up into the air and catch it. While I’m I’m throwing the ball in the air I repeat them words again to myself sometimes out loud but if there are other people around I say them words in my mind with commitment and I usually throw the ball in the air and catch it at least five times in a row if I’m dreaming something weird might happen like the ball might float up instead of coming down or the ball might feel really light when I catch it or even the ball just might act in a strange way.

The point is to pay close attention to how the ball behaves if it acts differently than you expect. It's a sign you might be dreaming but it’s very important to imagine it floating off or something because this helps with the process of the waking world connecting to your dream mind when you are dreaming.

And if I don’t have my ball on me I still perform gravity checks but in a different way I stand on my tiptoes then I relax and let my feet come back down to the ground. I do this five times in a row too. Each time I say to myself “I am dreaming”  as I come back to standing flat. This little action helps me feel the pull of gravity and I pay close attention to how it feels. It should feel normal like it does when I’m awake. If it feels weird or off somehow that’s a big clue that I might be in a dream, dreaming.

The whole idea behind these gravity checks is that when you make these actions a habit in your waking world life your brain starts to connect them with being awake so when you are dreaming if something feels a little off you might just realize and become lucid.

And if you are ever unsure you can try out a dream power of yours if you have one and see if it works or do another reality check. The key is to stay aware and keep practicing the more you do these checks the more likely you will become aware in your dreams and that’s when the fun really begins. You can explore your imagination in ways you never thought possible.

  • Imagine you are just hanging out, maybe scrolling through your phone and chatting with friends and you suddenly think I’ll do a reality check.  A simple test to find out if you are dreaming is to check your fingers and here’s how it works. First look at your hand and count all 5 of your fingers on one hand. Now here’s the important part after you count them, look away for a second then pause for a moment. This part is a key component.

Now when you look back at your hand you need to really focus and have this mindset that something is going to be different so you can tell yourself “when I look back I might see more fingers or fewer fingers or even something totally bizarre” this intention is crucial because it sets your mind up to notice anything unusual.

So when you finally look back at your hand pay close attention and If you see something odd like if you have an extra finger or something or even if your fingers are unusual looking ( Myself when I checked my fingers my thumb and one of my fingers suddenly appeared super long and started flapping around in a really strange way ) that’s your cue that you are likely dreaming which can lead to awareness and lucidity.

The key here is that it’s not just about counting your fingers, it's about your intention behind the action by genuinely believing that something will be different when you look back you are training your brain to recognize those dream signs. It’s like giving yourself a little nudge to wake up inside your dream the more you practice this the easier it will become to spot those unusual moments and become aware of your dreams. So the next time you are curious about whether you are in the waking world or dreaming just perform the finger counting reality check test and see what happens you might be surprised.

  • Have you ever wondered what it feels like to control your dreams? Picture this you going about your day and suddenly you pause to look at the palm of your hand. You ask yourself “Am I dreaming” or you confidently state “I am dreaming right now.” This simple yet powerful practice can open the door to lucid dreaming where you take control of your dreams and explore incredible worlds.

The goal is to do these reality checks 10 to 20 times every day each time you look at your hand and pay close attention to the details, especially the lines on your palm. Notice if these lines look normal or strange as you examine your palm try to imagine connecting the lines to create patterns this practice will help you when you try it in your dreams. It's important to build this habit in your waking world life by improving your chances of having lucid dreams.

One time when I performed a reality check in my dream I looked at my palm of my hand and I saw Egyptian symbols arranged in circles with other circles on either side. The symbols began to fade in and out and spun in different directions. It was awesome looking at this on my hand.

Eventually during a dream your subconscious will remind you to perform a reality check and when this happens you may suddenly realize that you are in fact dreaming. This realization can transform your dream experience, granting you the freedom to explore and shape your dream world.

Spend at least 5 minutes each night before bedtime focusing on both of your hands. Position your hands in front of your face and take the time to truly observe them and as you look at your hands repeat to yourself “when I see my hands I am dreaming” this affirmation reinforces your intention to recognize your hands in your dreams, Making it more likely that you will become aware of your dreaming state and achieve lucidity. By dedicating this time each night you create a strong association between your hands and the dream world thereby increasing your chances of experiencing lucid dreams.

It's important to keep in mind that it might take a few attempts before you successfully recognize a dream while doing your reality check but that’s perfectly normal. Trust in your ability to achieve lucid dreaming by maintaining your belief in yourself and continuing to practice you will find that you can unlock the extraordinary potential of your dreams.

  • Consider this scene you are going about your day engaging in your usual activities such as chatting with friends, watching TV or even at work whatever you are doing then out of nowhere you get this thought that pops into your head “Hey I should do a reality check” this is where the whole idea of checking if you are dreaming or you are in the waking world comes into play even if you know you are a waking world life because when we are dreaming even if something usual happens and weird  we take it at face value and think we are in the waking world life. This realization can lead to a deeper understanding of our consciousness and the nature of our experiences.

So let’s say you are wearing a mum or dad ring on your finger and when you think about doing a reality check you take a moment to focus on that ring you look at it closely, really studying how it looks. You notice the details, the color, the shape and maybe even the way the light reflects off it. After taking a good look at your ring you look away for a few seconds when you look back at your ring you need to pay attention by focusing on it with the idea that something might be different when you look back. Perhaps the words might be different or you might notice something that doesn’t seem quite right with the ring.

You are not just looking at the ring casually, you are setting an intention in your mind that you want to see something unusual. when you look at the ring then look away again do this at least three times in a row.

The reason this is important is that when you are dreaming your brain can play tricks on you. Sometimes everything seems totally normal, and you might not even realize that you are in a dream. That's why these reality checks are so crucial. By doing them with that strong intention you are training your mind to recognize when something is not quite right. It’s like giving yourself a heads up that you might actually be dreaming even if everything feels real at the moment.

So the next time you find yourself going about your day remember to take those moments to check in with your ring to perform a reality check and make sure you are paying close attention each time. Over time you will start to notice that it becomes easier to spot those little differences whether you are awake in the waking world life or dreaming and who knows you might just unlock a whole new level of awareness and experience some incredible dreams along the way.
